"Elves," he said. "They're just so silly."
For your holiday listening enjoyment:
David Sedaris tells a hilarious story on how the Dutch celebrate Christmas. It was my first introduction to Sedaris, who writes funny stories which are even better when you hear him reading them.
He reads it on NPR's "This American Life." (It starts 25 minutes into the episode, which is available in Real Audio). I distinctly remember listening to this on the way to a nursing home Christmas pageant, trying not to veer off the ramp onto I-270 because I was laughing so hard I was almost in tears.
My other favorite "This American Life" story is the "Squirrel Cop" story. This is just not the way you want to start your new job! (It's about 20 minutes into the episode.)
