Fun Quote Saturday

"’Well, basically there are two sorts of opera,' said Nanny, who also had the true witch's ability to be confidently expert on the basis of no experience whatsoever. 'There's your heavy opera, where basically people sing foreign and it goes like "Oh oh oh, I am dyin', oh, I am dyin', oh, oh, oh, that's what I'm doin'", and there's your light opera, where they sing in foreign and it basically goes "Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! I like to drink lots of beer!", although sometimes they drink champagne instead. That's basically all of opera, reely*.’"

~Terry Pratchett, Maskerade
(*Spelling as indicated in the book. No person who has an ounce of self-preservation would think of arguing with Nanny Ogg over how she wants to spell things!)

    Hi Em

I am going to try once more to see if this comment will get through. I am glad you are a member of the blogers. I will check your blog all the time. I have three of them to check now, My sons and Dave, My Nephew who is in route to Iraq now (he is in Kwate for the next 4 weeks or so.} and yours. So make sure you make it fun. No pressure or anything like that.:) I bet Dave can't wait to see you and we are so glad you are coming to the wedding. Talk to you and will see you in a few days. Bye for now

Mustang Mama - Congrats on getting the comments to work for you! :)

Em - I think the idea of "Fun Quote Saturday" is so much better than a Simpson's Quotation anyday! Geesh, Dave is soooo weird. I hope things are going well with you and I guess I will see you this Thursday or if not then, I expect it will be Friday!

What, you'd rather I go with "Futurama Quote Fridays"? I suppose I could try it for a little while -- I have been looking for a way to incorporate "I've never seen a supernova blow up before, but if it's anything like my old Chevy Nova, it'll light up the night sky!" into a post!

On second thought, naah. How can I pass up the opportunity to feature such classics as, "When I grow up, I want to be a principal or a caterpillar. I love you, Principal Skinner."? It would be a crime against weekly quotes!

Actually, don't take my word for it, FCC@V. I have the first six seasons of The Simpsons on dvd; we can start your education when you get here!

Dave - you don't want to scare me away before I even get there do you? :)

Oh, and I do like the Nova quotation. I am smiling in spite of the hour.

Mustang Mama- glad you got the comments to work. They've eaten a few of my comments too! I don't know that I'll be updating the blog as often as Mustang was during his deployment, but I'll try to make it fun! I can't wait to see Dave either, and am looking forward to finally meeting Mustang & FCC@V and seeing the rest of you again.

FCC@V- Ah, part of the logic behind "Fun Quote Saturday" is that I've already helped Dave think of or decide between some of the featured Simpsons quotations. So several of my favorites have already been used. And really, if I can't use the "Me fail English? That's unpossible!" then I just won't play the game!

But mostly, it's because it'll be easier just to pick a quote from my quotation file that strikes me on that particular day.

I was at Target tonight and almost picked up a Strawberry Shortcake card for Mustang as a welcome home. But they only had birthday ones and ones that praised the recipient for being "huggable and altogether cute," and I thought that might be pushing it a little too far!

Dave & I will probably get back to the house around 10:30-11ish on Thursday; my flight arrives at 9:55 p.m. I hope you have a good rest of the week (I have a feeling that my lack of motivation today will be continued for the rest of the work week! I'm just counting the hours until I get to fly to KC!) and a safe flight!
